Thailand Off The Beaten Path at Tha Chalaep Oyster Farm.

Back in August, I had the amazing opportunity to explore some of the less-visited lands in Thailand with the Tourism Authority of Thailand. One of those great experiences was checking out the folk fisherman's way of life at a local oyster farm.

First, I boarded a boat and explored the area to see the oyster farms in action. After the boat ride, we headed to Uncle Thom's and chowed down while floating on the water.

I have to admit, it was a little scary to eat oysters out of warm water. This is something you definitely wouldn't do here in the states, but when in Rome, you try it. So glad I did. It was a feast of oysters, crab, fish cakes, and tom yum soup.

If you're interested in an off the beaten path food adventure in Thailand, add this oyster farm experience to your list. August felt like the perfect time to be there. The temperature was perfect and we got lucky without a drop of rain landing on our heads.
